A Letter For Ami

Dear Ami,

I still remember the first time we met like it was yesterday. It was at the Maysaa-Yuna event at Publika back in 2010. You were shy but still so sweet when we took a picture together. It wasn't until I found out you lived in Bandar Baru Bangi that we became close friends. We had lived only a neighborhood apart. You would always ring me up and ask if I wanted to attend this event and that event together. I would always say yes if I didn't have any other plans and got excited to have you as my 'teman' to media events. We'd always discuss what we were going to wear the night before and I would go fetch you at your apartment the next day since you didn't drive.

Before I actually got to know you on a more personal level, I saw you as this reserved, almost too serious person. But event after event, it came to my senses that you were the most friendly, funny, quirky and kind-hearted person, masyaAllah.

Remember how we used to borrow each others stuff to wear to media events, and that time we got lost at the parking basement after IFF? I took my heels off and walked barefoot because my feet hurt so bad. Then you joked about feeling like a camel in your bulky wedges and did a camel walk which cracked me up so hard! I was literally in tears laughing! As tired as you were, you kept cheering me up with your wit and humor. I always felt comfortable and warm in your presence. It's one of your many traits that make you so lovable.

I've had nothing but great times and sweet memories with you, my dear Ami. I've admired and followed your fashion evolution, cheered for your victory battling leukemia and adored your kindness and positivity. It would break my heart every time I'd see an update regarding your health that wasn't too good. But because you were so positive and vibrant all the time, I would always tell myself, "Ami's going to be ok.." and that we'd attend more events together like always.

That all changed when I read in our scarflets whatsapp group that you were having difficulty breathing and that you haven't been able to sleep well at all. I knew that something was terribly wrong. As much as I hoped the best for you, deep down I somehow knew that this time wouldn't be the same. That day I wanted to visit you but Naz posted that you needed your rest and visits might make you even more tired. So I waited.

But as I got more heartbreaking updates, I felt like going straight to you to hug you. In our whatsapp group everyone was sharing and talking about how you were doing because we were all so worried about you. That's when I also learned that you already had a lung infection and was on morphine and oxygen support. I was very emotional not only because of you, but I just got the news that my grandmother was in critical condition after suffering a heart attack earlier in the morning. The fear of losing two people that I love was too painful to bear.

I couldn't stop thinking of you that day so I started sketching this and wanted to give it to you the next day when I visited you...

" Sputnik Sweethaert"

But I was too late..:'(

That night we got the last text from your number

Ami dah pergi. Semoga dia ditempatkan di tempat orang-orang yang beriman.
26/03/2014 - 1.29am
- Naz -

My tears fell down like a waterfall. I didn't want to believe it was true. I kept hoping that I was in some kind of dream and waited for someone to wake me up.

But then I realized that that's life. It's all temporary. Nothing is ours. Everything and everyone will leave us one day. Qada' and Qadar. To Allah we all belong and to Him we return.

I've had the best time knowing you and I can't express enough how thankful I am to Allah s.w.t to have let me 'borrow' you all these years. You've inspired so many and you're still loved by many. People from all over the world are keeping you in their duaas and praising you. That's how special you are and how big of a positive impact your spirit has made.

Dear Ami,

I hope you are no longer in pain, and happy up there. Even though you're gone, I feel like you are still here, your presence, your smile, your positivity continues to live in all of us. One day we will meet again my friend, one day.

I miss you dearly.

O Allaah, forgive and have mercy upon her, excuse her and pardon her, and make honorable her reception. Expand her entry, and cleanse her with water, snow, and ice, and purify her of sin as a white robe is purified of filth. Exchange her home for a better home, and her family for a better family, and her spouse for a better spouse. Admit her into the Garden, protect her from the punishment of the grave and the torment of the Fire.

Ameen.

Every time I close my eyes I see you in front of me
I still can hear your voice calling out my name
And I remember all the stories you told me
I miss the time you were around
But I’m so grateful for every moment I spent with you
‘Cause I know life won’t last forever..

You went so soon, so soon
You left so soon, so soon.

I have to move on ’cause I know it’s been too long
I’ve got to stop the tears, keep my faith and be strong
I’ll try to take it all, even though it’s so hard
I see you in my dreams but when I wake up you are gone..

Gone so soon..

Night and day, I still feel you are close to me
And I remember you in every prayer that I make
Every single day may you be shaded by His mercy
But life is not the same, and it will never be the same
But I’m so thankful for every memory I shared with you
‘Cause I know this life is not forever..

You went so soon, so soon
You left so soon, so soon..

I have to move on ’cause I know it’s been too long
I’ve got to stop the tears, keep my faith and be strong
I’ll try to take it all, even though it’s so hard
I see you in my dreams but when I wake up you were gone..

There were days when I had no strength to go on
I felt so weak and I just couldn’t help asking: “Why?”
But I got through all the pain when I truly accepted
That to God we all belong, and to Him we’ll return..

You went so soon, so soon
You left so soon, so soon..

I have to move on ’cause I know it’s been too long
I’ve got to stop the tears, keep my faith and be strong
I’ll try to take it all, even though it’s so hard
I see you in my dreams but when I wake up you are gone..
Gone so soon..

Kanebo Lunasol 15th Anniversary

Earlier this month I attended Kanebo Lunasol's 15th anniversary at the Kampachi restaurant located at Plaza 33 Petaling Jaya. Lunasol from Kanebo Cosmetics is a popular and innovative makeup brand originating from Japan since 1999. The makeup brand has been extremely well received by Malaysian women who seek to enhance their natural beauty and inner confidence!

Lunasol holds true to a concept that truly understands what it takes to be beautiful. Inspired by the Japanese culture, Lunasol combines refined traditions with modern technology. As a result, women who choose this makeup brand are able to exude beauty from within and carry a natural glow.

Lunasol is the combination of the words Luna(moon) and Sol(sun). Playing with the concept of light and shadow, response and motion, it portrays the many mysteries a women possesses.

Upon arriving to the venue, I was warmly ushered inside and was entertained by the plucking sounds of the Koto, a traditional Japanese musical instrument. As I walked around, there were stations with origami demonstrations and not forgetting the Furoshiki.

After stepping away from the stations, my attention was easily diverted to the amazing range of cosmetic products on the display. I simply couldn't wait to try it on my own!

This set in particular(above picture) had me really interested : The Kanebo Lunasol 15th Anniversary Makeup Palette. It is the latest product that was designed especially to commemorate this 15th year anniversary of Kanebo Lunasol. The retail price is RM368 and is already available since March 2014!

The set comprises of different beige tones, perfect to for a natural look that emphasis on natural skin beauty. This is definitely a must-have makeup set for makeup addicts who love to experiment with makeup and love a beautiful natural finish. The palette also features 6 coloured eyeshadows, a micro finished pressed powder, the duo cheeks blusher, the liquid lips lipstick and high stylized mascara. everything you need ll in one set! how convenient! The palette is even encased in an elegant golden pouch.

Hello Chic!

Salam salam! Happy weekend!! How y'all doing? I've been grrrrrrrrrrrreat!(wow someone's in a good mood). Must be my brand new Zakwan Anuar pants from Fashion Valet. I've been scouting for a nice pair of wide leg pants since forever and I've finally found the perfect pair at last.

I think this type of pants suit me very well and add inches to my height!(ok who am I kidding, I'm wearing heels bahaha). But it definitely is a more modest choice if you're in the mood for pants. I love palazzos but they usually make me even more 'bulky' than I alredy am. I think these pants make me look taller and more importantly, slimmer!!

Btw Fashion Valet just came out with their Back To Basics collection. Loads of stuff you'd love I'm sure! From basic tops, to maxi dresses to cool blazers like the one I'm wearing in the below photo.

It's still hazey here in Malaysia, so to my fellow Malaysians, don't forget to wear your masks if you go out and drink plenty of water ok!

Till then!xx

Ariani Exclusive Preview 2014

I'm very sure every woman in Malaysia is familiar with this huge brand. They are the pioneers of  the classic 'tudung awning' as people like to call it. They are one of the most celebrated hijab brands in Malaysia with their wide range of exclusive scarves that are famous for it's design and quality. I was one of the few who were lucky enough to attend an exclusive preview of Ariani's latest collection, which took place yesterday at The Doubletree by Hilton, Kuala Lumpur.

It was indeed a splendid event filled with surprises and excitement! As many of you might know, Ariani first ambassador was Ekin Mawi, followed by the sweet Wardina Saffiyah. Well since Wardina is moving to Australia, Ariani has decided to choose a new ambassador. Can you guess who she is?? (keep guessing..i'll tell you the answer in a little bit..:p)

After the multimedia presentation, guests were presented with Ariani's new collection by beautiful models on the runway. The fashion show's concept was 'Glam Exclusive' and 'Chic Casual'. The show featured Ariani's classic design which is the 'tudung awning' design in hues of red, pink, mustard, green and many more with details of Swarovski beading. Such exclusive detailing for it's affordable price. The show also featured other designs like selendang crumple, selendang lace, selandang embroidery and so much more!

What I love about this brand is that they have high standards when it comes to the quality of the product, not to mention it's intricate and lush beadings that are sewn with superb workmanship! I was lucky enough to get a goodie bag with a beautiful Ariani piece in it(will blog about in an outfit post later insyaAllah!)

Stunning piece
Desert anyone? The food was great too!
One of the highlights of the event was the lucky draw. I was so excited to see the winners(registered Ariani card holders) who went home with amazing prizes such as iPhone 5S, carpet worth RM5000, and Ariani vouchers worth up to RM1000. They have it every year in conjunction with Ariani's year end sale 2013. If you haven't signed up yet, go and sign up and you can be in the running of winning all these amazing prizes next year! All you have to do is shop, fill the form and drop it in the lucky draw box.

Another amazing highlight of the evening was the bidding of 3 of Ariani's one of a kind designs. The 3 scarves were bid at the price of RM3500, RM7000 and even RM10,000! Best part is that the bidders get to keep the scarves, and the bidding money is donated to the less fortunate.

Afterwards, the audience was surprised with a special appearance by Malaysia's sweetheart, Dato' Siti Nurhaliza. I was surprised and couldn't contain my excitement when I saw her!! She wore one of Ariani's classic designs and looked absolutely lovely in it! I was in absolute awe watching her sing and her beauty masyaAllah. No wonder Ariani chose her as their icon. How can you not love her!

The surprise doesn't just stop there, it was announced that she will be the icon of Galeri Ariani featuring an exclusive collection called 'Siti Nurhaliza Collection by Ariani' which will be available starting 21st March 2014. If you're an Ariani card member holder, you will get further markdown on the items! This collaboration with Ariani will last untill Ramadhan to make way for another RTW collaboration with Jakel and Dato' Siti herself!

As soon as the main event ended, I attended the press conference and had the chance to hear more about these collaborations with Ariani representative, Dato' Siti, Wardina, Jakel representative and the new face of Ariani, Nurul Shuhada Nurul Ain! (did you guess right? :P)

I was so happy to get the chance to meet both the beautiful personalities, both kind and down to earth, masyaAllah. Btw, the scarf worn by Dato' Siti is part of her collection by Ariani. Love the design!! I want one tooo!! hehe

With fellow blogger Raja Nadia
There were also over 20 bloggers present at the event including the likes of  Dena Bahrin, Ami Schaheera, Yuyu Zulaikha, Jezmine Zaidan, Raja Nadia Sabrina, Ben Ashaari, Fatin Suhana, and many more. Ariani has been extremely delightful to us. We wish Ariani, Dato' Siti and Jakel the best of success and hope that they will continue to blossom as Malaysia's finest brands!

InsyaAllah:))
