Last night I attended a 3.5 hour talk with Ami Schaheera on a well structured, tactical and interactive talk titled "Be DIFFERENT, Be PRODUCTIVE" at IIUM Gombak held by the Al-Aqsa Society. It was a compact mini-workshop providing practical tips and suggestions on how to put the proven productivity principles to work for you, at work, at home and in everything you do as an all-rounded Muslim. I won't be able to join the 2-day seminar on the 25th & 26th Feb so I took the chance to join this one:)

The speaker, Muhammad Faris was witty, energetic, and very informative in his talk. Mohammed Faris is the founder of ProductiveMuslim.com, a dynamic online enterprise dedicated to boost productivity in the Muslim world. He talked about simple steps in beating procrastination, how to use productivity tools and techniques in balancing your spiritual and work life plus many other points. But two things that really caught my attention was about our sleep cycle and also the concept of Barakah in our daily lives.

“Barakah is the attachment of Divine goodness to a thing, so if it occurs in something little, it increases it. And if it occurs in something much it benefits. And the greatest fruits of Barakah in all things is to use that barakah in the obedience of Allah (Subahanahu Wa Ta’ala)”

Imagine waking up for Qiamullail and only getting a few hours of sleep but still feeling fresh and energized the whole day, as opposed to sleeping the whole night and missing your fajr prayer, to wake up feeling weak and sleepy all day long. Even simple things like sharing your food with your friends and feeling full when you eat less than you normally do, that is a sign of Barakah. Do read more on the 18 sources of Barakah HERE

Another useful tip to keep you productive throughout the day, POWER NAPS. (hurrayy!!) No, I'm serious. The best power naps are either 20 minutes, 45 minutes or 90 minutes. <--ok definitely have to try and prove this one! :D You can read more on sleep cycles HERE

All in all, the talk was short and sweet. And most importantly beneficial and inspired me to be a more productive human being in the future! It sounds cliche, I know. But please make du'a for me:). Also, there will be more upcoming events that you might want to check out:

Behind The Scenes : Safiyya Shoot

Last week we were invited to appear on TV9's Safiyya show and we couldn't have been more delighted to be part of the little soiree. Plus it was a great excuse to catch up with the girls and have a bit of fun! I was with Ami and my sister Timah as we headed to Eyqa's boutique in Shah Alam. Eyqa had volunteered her sheek new boutique to have the shoot there. You can drop by her boutique at Seksyen 7, behind Jakel Shah Alam. Right above Fareeda boutique. Lots of amazing pieces to grab! I also met Sha's sister who was so sweet and lovely just like she is:) It's always nice to meet new people and share your stories. All in all, it was a great night and I'm looking forward to the appearance, eventhough I doubt that you will see me saying anything on the show:p

Book Voucher Conquest.

I'm sure everyone knows about the book voucher thingy right? Ok to start things off, last week I went to UPM to collect the book voucher with my pregnant sister since she's also doing her masters in UPM. To cut the story short, I didn't bring my matric card, I only had my ic with me so the voucher lady didn't let me get my voucher. (hmmm. padahal gune number ic je pun)

Anyway, so I went to UPM again the next day and finally got my voucher. (huh, menyampah)

Which brings me to today's story. My sisters and I, together with my brother-in-law were on our way to KLCC. Me and my sister Maryam had planned to go to Kinokuniya to use the voucher on books, ofcourse.

Upon arriving, we had brunch, then I went straight to Kinokuniya while my sisters did some shopping of their own elsewhere. I went upstairs to the Architecture section to find myself some good books(actually all the goods ones where 200-300++, so what the hey, i just tried to find some OK ones for less).

When I finally decided on which one to buy, I realized I had spent around 3 hours just to pick 3 books.

Then I had to que in a long line just to VERIFY my book vouchers. As soon as I got in front of the line, the voucher lady told me I had to show my ic and matric card. Being the stubborn person that I am, I didn't bring my matric card, again. I thought I didn't have to this time around because when my sister Fatimah used her voucher in MPH Alamanda, they only asked for her ic. *3D facepalm*

I begged the lady to verify my vouchers so that I could buy the books. But the lady told me I should go online somewhere and log into the students portal and show it to them as proof that I was in fact a student. How absurd is that..I called my sisters for help, but there was no connection in the bookstore so guess what happens next...?

I GO TO THE CYBER CAFE. ( I swear to God this was the lamest thing I've ever done in my entire life)

In the cybercafe, there was a sign that read "minimum 1 hour and 15 minutes only" at the back of my head I was thinking, "are you freakin kidding me..??!"

So I asked the cute lady at the counter if I could use the internet just for 5 minutes? T_T But she didn't let me. At that point I could barely think, so I just said ok let me just use it then. And this is the PROOF that I came up with:

After snapping some photos of THAT, I went to the counter to pay for my 5 minute use of the internet(dah la cc tu masih pakai internet explorer lagi, *LAME AWARD*) And it cost me a whooping RM 8.00! can you believe it?

I rushed back to Kinokuniya and finally got my books. At that point I was so happy to get the books. My sisters were waiting outside of the store looking at me and as I stepped out of the store, this is what I did (or something like it)

Then...

THE ALARM RINGS.

The security guard at the entrance stops me and tells me to come back inside and go scan my books again.

hhhhh.

Despite all the hardship, I finally got my books. And for that I am truly thankful. I guess nothing comes for FREE huh?

Hrmm. I love you books:')

4 months to go!

Its amazing how time flies so quickly! I've been calmly preparing for my wedding these past few months and I just realized I don't have much time left now.yikes! Before you know it, it'll be june already! But alhamdulillah all important bookings have been made--venue, photographer&videographer, nikah&reception attire,MUA, deco etc. Whats left to do is all the DIY-ing and the more intricate details like hantarans etc. Also, legal documents&procedures not yet done. Oh and I totally lost myself in my previous diet and haven't been losing the weight I should be losing by now! *facepalm* I have a problem with portion control, and I've tried supplements like Herbalife but it never works for me. The only time I ever lost weight was when I was actively working out almost everyday during my semester break, when I had ample time doing nothing at home. At the moment i don't really have much of that.

On Little Changes.

Today nothing much happened really, except I was laying on my bed, when I remembered something I read a while ago about constantly renewing one's Iman. So as I was staring at the ceiling, I suddenly thought about how much time I actually spent today for Allah s.w.t, and how much I spent on the more wordly things. It made me sad because I didn't do anything today that was different from yesterday.

I woke up, did my solah, took a shower, went to work, ate and basically all the normal routine things I do almost everyday. So I said to myself, "Aishah, you say want to change and renew your Iman, but you're not doing anything about it..!"

Change is a very difficult thing to do. So I started writing a list of the things I should do and that I believe will, insyaAllah strengthen my Iman. Why? because our Iman will not increase just by making du'aa and asking Allah to increase it, but it takes will power and effort.

So I decided that I will initiate something new in my life every week to try and make sure I am putting some kind of effort to 'polish' my Iman. For example, this week, I will try perfecting my solah, try to achieve that khusyu' that I've been longing for sooooo long and be constant at it. Then I want to start wearing socks because I realized that my feet are actually part of my aurah, but I haven't been covering them all these yearsT_T The list goes on and on, but I'm sure you get the picture. Again, I know it's hard to make a big change all at once, so why not try to make many small changes, and make 'em count;)

Tips for improving iman and deen [taken from here]

1. Surround yourself in good company. If you are helping another with improving their iman - make sure you are available to help and support them at all times - be close to them - soon they will see the difference between spending time with a practicing muslim and bad company ( non believers or hypocrites)

2. Read all the 5 times prayers on time. Set yourself a challenege to remember the times with no reminder. If you are helping another - encourage them to pray - TEACH them to pray - relate to their struggles. Explain to them why it is so important.

3. Talk - and question. If there is something that has always bothered you or you have wondered about in Islam - go research it, question it, debate it. If you are helping another do the same with them - engage them in talks

4. Appreciate the beauty of this world. Look around you for the signs of Allah swt's creation

5.Make du'a to Allah swt to guide you with an open heart. Make du'a for others.

6. Ponder on the shortness of this life and its meaning,

7. Ponder on the ability of Allah swt to do whatever He wills. Consider that there are so many things we as humans and science do not have the answer for. Think about 'luck' and 'coincidences' and fate in the Islamic sense.

8. Read, read, read and unite, unite, unite.

A muslim who does not seek knowledge is a poor muslim and a muslim who has no support from others is a lonely muslim.

Stellar Studio Launch

Alhamdulillah i had a loooong great weekend:) On Saturday there was the Stellar Launch Bazaar which I joined with my sister Timah of Mellovelly, but actually it was more like I was just tumpang-ing my pre-loved stuff there. hehe. Met more awesome people that I usually just see in cyberspace. And managed to sell some of my pre-loved stuff!! Then on Sunday we had a family BBQ celebrating my Maktok's 84th birthday and on Monday a lovely day out at The Curve+Ikea. And ofcourse with all that fun and relaxation I just had to take another day off from work for some me time. lol saje malas nak gi kerja sebenarnye..huarghhhh..I'm looking forward to more holidays end of this month..another short family vacation comin sooonnnn..wohoooo! oh and here's some wicked stuff you missed (all photos courtesy of Hazra Ngah of HNHM-The-Photoworks

Wear It Right Campaign : 'Less Is More'

Assalamualaikum ladies! After reading this post (please read)by the ever so lovely Rina Salleh, it actually really hit me hard, in a good way that is. While there's nothing wrong with a little eyeliner, lip-balm and powder, I do agree that the more makeup we put on, the more we bring fitnah to ourselves because in a way, we are manipulated to believe that we own such beauty which in fact is only superficial. Well ladies, it's about time to change that. That is why I was inspired to start this campaign. Ok so this is how it's gonna work.. If you're up for going au naturale, you can show your support by posting a makeup-free photo of yourself either on FB, on your blog, tumblr, twitter and so on to show the world and women out there that you don't need makeup to look beautiful! It's very simple, and the aim is to encourage women to use less makeup and to be confident in their own skin!:) So who's with me now? Start posting and spread the word!:)

Reflection Fashion Show 2012

The Reflection Fashion Show is an event that aims to give back to charity in style. They brought us the best upcoming online designers through a fashion show by Oldblossombox, Ammarahijabi, Yasalma, Pastelina, Shopsptnkswthrt, Rina Salleh Collections, Calaqisya, Abiya Muslimah and Nilam. The event included Maria Elena as the host and special performances by The Fabulous Cats and Heliza Helmi. Special guest appearance included Hana Tajima of Maysaa, Vivy Yusoff of Proud Duck, Farrah Adeeba of Najjah, Finaz Yunus ( tv presenter ) local celebrities and many others. I came as one of the designers vip guest, but I helped my way backstage and just loved seeing the collections and models getting ready and rehearsing their walk!:) Kudos to the organizers, crew, designers, and sponsors for organizing a great event. Btw mind the date on the photos, obviously the camera was a bit confused there:p

Forever Grateful.

I haven't been in the best of health these past 5 days and I had an exam on Sunday. So it was a tough one.

When you become independant, working away from home and being sick, you start to remember how amazing it was when you always had your mom by your side to take care of you. I know I'm turning 24 this year, but I have to admit, when I got home over the weekend, I constantly craved for my mom's attention and she looked after me just the way she did the last 23 years of my life. Eventhough I knew she didn't have to, since I'm a grown adult. But, she did. Words just can't describe how that made me feel. I started crying when she hugged me and took some iced-water to pour on my head. A mother's love is unconditional. It made me realize, no matter how old I get, or no matter how 'independant' I claim to be, I will always need my Ummi.

One day if my Ummi no longer has the strength to take care of her family, I hope and pray that I will always be there for her and give her the love and affection that she had for me. Ameen.

Just a recap of the most memorable things that happened in 2011=)

1.The Little Tea-Party with Hana Tajima. This was when I really started to know all these lovely ladies on a personal level and realy clicked.

2. Impromptu Family Vacation to Jakarta and Bandung. It was the perfect escape from work and a great excuse to have fun and be closer to my family. Not to mention experiencing the beauty of Allah's creation in yet another foreign land.

3. Starting my masters studies in UPM.

4. Making my first appearance on live television. It wasn't anything big but my whole family was in front of the TV watching and that was such a sweet memory for me:)

5. Teaching this particular batch of students and seeing them perform well in my class was one of the greatest feelings i could never have experienced elsewhere.

6. Having awesome bestfriends since school who have always been there for me. You know who you are!

7. Being engaged and to soon be married to the one and only man I fell in love with. :')

Bismillah. 2012. May Allah bless us with His mercy, love, and guidance to face the challenges of yet another new year. And may we grow stronger, better Muslims, Insyallah. Ameen.

On Stereotype.

Do read THIS ARTICLE first before you read my entry. After reading it myself, I just felt the need to point out a few things:

1. Hijab does not translate to TUDUNG. Hijab refers to donning clothes that cover your aurah, not just the TUDUNG.

2. While we all have the freedom to stereotype, and I'm not saying that he is wrong for stereotyping. BUT, this article is making fun of women who are, in some way rising closer towards Islam. And to me, as a Muslim, making fun of people who are putting an effort to somehow be closer to their deen, is wrong. He should be supporting these young Muslim girls who were once 'hijabless' and have finally found the courage&hidayah to change for the better.

3. How is using arabic words a funny/bad thing in the first place? I don't understand the need to make fun of it. It's the language of Al-Quran for heaven's sake. Why doesn't he make fun of the Muslims who use f**k, s**t or such words every 5 seconds updating their fb/twitter status. I think it's a very beautiful thing that more Muslims now are starting to use terms like Salam Alaykum, MasyaAllah and Alhamdulillah instead of HI, OMG and WTH on a daily basis.

4. It bugs me that he doesn't stereotype groups like Muslims with blonde hair in bikinis, hands around their guyfriends in clubs and bars, you know, the type that think their so cool and 'open-minded' that they drink beer and celebrate holloween/christmas. Why attack the girls who only want to use some Arabic terms to express something? I absolutely see no wrong in that. There are so much more disturbing things happening in Malaysia right now. To write something as narrow minded as the article itself is even more EMBARRASSING to me than what the author feels embarrassed about in the article.

5. I wish these cheap-publicity articles would just stop because it seems like these people are trying to find anything they can to make fun of hijabis, it's almost disturbing.

In the words of my sister Maryam,

"The author has a very narrow sociolinguistic point of view. People do not talk in a lingo based on the way they dress.

It's mostly because young women find a community of friends like themselves to form a support system. Yes, they are women in hijab who strive to be better Muslimahs everyday and at the same time be successful in facing the challenges of the 21st century. They make friends with Muslim sisters who are newly converts, Palestinians to name a few-who are the strongest women in their world, and exceptional international women figures who fight for Islam. So in a way, they use terms like 'hijab, iftar, wudhu' to find a common ground in the Muslim community. They are mostly women of high education, grew up speaking English, fond of English culture and ambiance, could pull off any fashion trend if they weren't in hijabs, but choose to be better Muslimahs. No, they are not 'Melayu Murtad'. Islam is one."

Quote from my sister's Palestinian friend,

"It's good to have someone noticing the rising of hijabi girls, especilly that this is the first thing a girl should wear when the 'natural alarm date that Allah sets for her" has come. the non hijab is the trend of other nations "which invaded us"!! Again this brings us back to the debate "in the west" about a Muslim girl covering doesn't mean she covered her mind, too. Using Arabic words, is NOT a bad thing when referring to Islamic terms cause this language happens to be the language of the Holly Quran. so, using these words is not a trend Mr.. it's the ORIGIN. Which ever language you use for it, is nothing but a translation..."

Oh and ex-UIA students(and im sure many other Muslims from all over Malaysia) are so used to all these arabic words like iftar, taaruf, etc, its so not new, so *BIG YAWN* to this article. The evolution of hijab trend began even before Yuna & Hana Tajima. They just made it more popular. If you go to UIA in 2004, You'll see a whole campus of girls looking like this. Most of them are Malay though who also use Arabic terms.

Introducing The Special Makeup Artist For My Wedding...drumroll

It's every girl's dream to look exceptionally beautiful on her wedding day..therefore hiring the right makeup artist is very, VERY crucial. That is why I have decided to choose a very speacial MUA for my big day. She's not very known for her work but I think I have enough confidence in her, and most importantly I know she'll do a great job..the MUA I'm talking about is non other than.. Aishah Amin a.k.a me, myself and i:p Some of you might be like..Whaaaattttt...this girl is crayyyzaayyy... OK the reason why I decided to do it myself is because I believe that I know my features better than anyone else and I know what looks good on me. Plus I want to look and feel beautiful from my own eyes, not from other people's eyes..I've seen time and time again brides not feeling pretty on their wedding because of harsh makeup, even if other people think they do look pretty. Hence effecting their mood during their big day. I don't want that to happen to me.I think a woman should look radiant and glowing on their wedding day, instead of OTT(over the top) and drag. i'm going for no falsies, no eyebrow trimming. (btw a lot of Muslims still don't know that wearing falsies is haram it seems. it falls under the same category as wearing a wig/rambut palsu. please look it up if you're still not convinced)

Anyways, I believe that a woman should be confident enough to do her own makeup. I mean, helllooooo..even Kate Middleton did her own wedding makeup, and looked fabulous if I might add! But I'm pretty sure that confidence didn't just come from nowhere. I have to admit, it's not going to be easy doing my own makeup, I'll have to start practicing from now if I want to look radiant and fabulous on my wedding day!(xpe2 ade lg 6 bln, insyallah boleh) That is why I recently joined Anna Ismail's personal makeup class together with Nadia and Zuryn to learn a thing or two about makeup. If you're planning to do your own wedding makeup, I suggest that you join any personal makeup class that you think will enhance your makeup skills! The class I joined was so useful since I personally love makeup and now I can look pretty without having to hire a makeup artist! Here's what went down during the class:

I personally loved Nadia's earthy-tone makeup. However, our makeup guru wanted us to create different looks so that we could learn different techniques. And since Nadia was doing like a bronzy-look, Zuryn was doing a more softer-purple-ish look, I did an arabic-inspired look.

Project DIY : Part 1

I'm actually really stressed out finishing an assignment right now which is due tomorrow so i had to do this quick post to keep me from going crazy!!

Anyways, at the moment I've finished making my nikah veil & tudung which i fully DIY-ed!:) It was sooo much fun I feel like DIY-ing everything!! I bought the materials from Euro Moda Kajang which is just satin+ lacepatch. and I bought some beads to do the beading..here's a picture of the before and after beading..just something simple really..

My Dream Wedding Venue

If someone was asked what would be their ideal/dream reception venue, some might say Pullman Hotel, Dewan Seri Indon, The Duchess Place, or maybe Palace of the Golden Horses or just somewhere really grand for that matter..but if you asked me..my answer would be KLPAC. Yep, you heard me. I know it's not your typical wedding-like venue but I just love the ambiance of the place so much and it would definitely suit my wedding theme!(can't tell you what it is just yet!:p) I could already picture myself diy-ing the decorations and how awesome it would look against the artsy interior. What I want for my wedding is for it to be an intimate-unique-one of a kind-shows-personality type of wedding. I'm really not a fan of grand weddings. I prefer a more intimate wedding reception...ahh if only they'd let me have my wedding here..it would be pure bliss. But I know thats never gonna happen plus the distance between my house and sentul is not that near so yeah, my parents certainly wouldnt agree on that either. So for now i'm just going to settle for a different venue, one that is close to home and that i can turn into something awesome!

It's Finally Happening.

Syukur Alhamdulillah..I'm on my way to becoming a wife;)..even though it's not until next year, but I want to make sure I settle all important preparations earlier so that I can relax a bit during the final days before my wedding..anyways, I'm super duper excited about the preparations and I think I'm about to turn into bridezilla!! lol. I have so many ideas for my wedding and I can't wait to share them here, soon insyallah:)

Earlier today I met with a representative from style weddings (so sorry, can't remember his name) and he was kind enough to have explained to me about their wedding video package. After the discussion, I ended up booking them for 3 events since the package was too good to resist! so it's confirmed, they will be my official videographer for my big day!! Here's a video by them just in case you're looking for a videographer:) and they're based in bandar baru bangi, which makes it even more easier for me to meet them for discussions etc. I think they will do a great job on my wedding, insyallah;) enjoy the video!

Someone once told me, you will never know your capability until you venture into new territory. How true that is. We human beings, we are often afraid of taking risks with the fear of failing. Fear ladies and gentlemen, will never do you any good. It is courage that takes you places. Even if you do fail, what have you got to lose? Failing can only make you stronger and learn more about yourself. Life is too short to be wasted on being ‘normal’. Once in my life, I never believed I could achieve what I had today. It was only when I wholeheartedly put my trust in Allah s.w.t , forgot everything else and just took that chance, I succeeded. And Alhamdulillah, they were the best decisions I ever made in my entire life. Sometimes you just have to trust your instincts and take that leap of faith. Because it’s those first few steps that will make a huge difference in your life.

Just believe.

And I was only able to attend one which was my cousin's wedding, since i was the maid of honor:) The lovely Eyqa Sulaiman and Adriani's wedding was on the same day so it was obvious that i couldn't make it to their wedding. And my future-sister-in-law's wedding was on Sunday but it was in Perak and I couldn't drive there all by myself! So i missed that one too..but it's ok.. even though i couldn't make it, I wish them all the happiness in the world and that they have great marriages and make cute babies! hehe..

And I know I haven't been very active blogging these past few weeks. After all I wasn't a hardcore blogger to begin with. I only blog when I feel like sharing something close to my heart, plus these past few weeks have been quite hectic for me.. I'm currently still working fulltime, doing my masters fulltime and I'm busy planning for something huge next year(can't tell you what it is just yet!:p). So I can say that I'm a busy, busy woman. So anyways, back to my cousins' wedding, yes my beautiful cousin, Marina Salina Raof Senk. Oh I just love saying her name! She's half Malay half German. Very happy for her that she's finally married and found her little piece of happiness:)

As you all know Raya is still going on and with Raya going on Im just bound to eat a lot with all the open houses in my schedule!! So this year, I'm trying out this diet called The 4-Hour-Body Diet. What is it you might ask? Well to sum it up it's a diet that consist of basically:

Eggs.

Beans.

Proteins.

Vegetables.

Ah but that's not all! the best part about this diet is there is a 'Cheat Day' You can pick ONE day of the week(make it the same day for each week), say Saturday, and on that chosen day, you can eat all you want! no dieting needed!

On dieting days, you cannot eat any kind of white carbs: no rice, bread, potatoes or such. no milk, no sugared drinks, only H2O and green tea(without sugar!) No fried food of any kind.

My cousin and his wife have tried this diet and I've seen tremendous results from them! So I actually just started this diet yesterday(12/09/11) and we'll see what happens in a month! For the time being, here are some recipes you can check out if you feel like trying out this diet!

WARNING!! Before you scroll down i warn you that this will be quite a long entry filled with plenty of oh-so-vain-raya photos. If you chose to proceed, don't tell me I didn't warn you.

Raya : Day 1

Like any other year, my family and I have always celebrated raya in Bangi (which is practically where I live). So this year was no exception( dear relatives, please la next year let the host be someone else, us Bangi peeps are getting bored raya-ing here every single year. Every year it's the same routine. After Aidilfitri prayers we drive to my aunt's house which is also in Bangi. And in the evening all my relatives (from my mom's side) will come over and beraya at our place. So as usual we cooked rendang ayam+daging+ketupat+nasi impit(wajib every year) and my mom added mee rebus to the menu since it's always nice to have something else besides your typical-raya-menu. There was this one year we made tons of Pizzas on the first day of raya which i thought was an awesome idea! Anyways, here is my first baju raya:

I wasn't really in the mood to dress up on the first day since i knew we'd be busy in the kitchen making sure all our guests stomach be filled with good food. Oh and my sister kayah made cheesecakes as she always does!

Raya : Day 2, 3, 4 i think?

Ok so these are the only pics I took from day 2 because, well let's just say nobody(including me:p) really bothered charging the camera battery so by the time we got to my aunt's house in Damansara the battery was completely out. And here are some shots I took of my raya makeup! they're all using the same lipstick colour just with a different eye shadow and contact lens colour ! (Pure Honey and Sterling Grey, both from Fresh Look)

Raya : Day 5

On Day 5, we went to my uncles place in Subang Jaya. He's a doctor so he had only healthy food on the table! LOL. just kidding. But the food was great I swear! Come to think about it, I think I just gained some few extra pounds over 5 days of raya! Oh well, bila lagi nak makan tak ingat dunia betol tak..?? hehehe

We were off to Selayang on day 6 and my aunt cooked Spaghetti Bologna Malay style! and it was at her house that I found some baby photos of me when we were still in the UK. I don't have a lot of baby photos so I was really happy I stumbled upon my cute baby photos! hehe.

I cried when I read this piece by Yasmin Mogahed at SuhaibWebb on Sha's blog. I'm sure a lot of people will be able to relate to this. It's been a really emotional day today and this is exactly what I needed to move my empty heart. I do feel that I have let too much dunya into my heart and that I'm slowly forgetting about the more important things in life..May Allah s.w.t grant us forgiveness and bless us all with His mercy, ameen.

No one likes to fall. And few people would ever choose to drown. But in struggling through the ocean of this life, sometimes it’s so hard not to let the world in. Sometimes the ocean does enter us. The dunya does seep into our hearts.

And like the water that breaks the boat, when dunya enters, it shatters our heart. It shatters the boat. Recently, I was reminded of what a broken boat looks like, of what happens when you let everything in. I was reminded because I saw someone, just like me, fall in love too much with this life and seek to be filled by the creation. So the ocean of dunya shattered her boat, as it had shattered mine, and she fell out into the water. But she stayed down too long, and didn’t know how to come back up or what to hold on to.

So she drowned.

If you allow dunya to own your heart, like the ocean that owns the boat, it will take over. You will sink down to the depths of the sea. You will touch the ocean floor. And you will feel as though you were at your lowest point. Entrapped by your sins and the love of this life, you will feel broken. Surrounded by darkness. That’s the amazing thing about the floor of the ocean. No light reaches it.

But, this dark place is not the end. Remember that the darkness of night precedes the dawn. And as long as your heart still beats, this is not the death of it. You don’t have to die here. Sometimes, the ocean floor is only a stop on the journey. And it is when you are at this lowest point, that you are faced with a choice. You can stay there at the bottom, until you drown. Or you can gather pearls and rise back up—stronger from the swim, and richer from the jewels.

If you seek Him, God can raise you up, and replace the darkness of the ocean, with the light of His sun. He can transform what was once your greatest weakness into your greatest strength, and a means of growth, purification and redemption. Know that transformation sometimes begins with a fall. So never curse the fall. The ground is where humility lives. Take it. Learn it. Breathe it in. And then come back stronger, humbler and more aware of your need for Him. Come back having seen your own nothingness and His greatness. Know that if you have seen that Reality, you have seen much. For the one who is truly deceived is the one who sees his own self—but not Him. Deprived is the one who has never witnessed his own desperate need for God. Reliant on his own means, he forgets that the means, his own soul, and everything else in existence are His creation.

Seek God to bring you back up, for when He does, He will rebuild your ship. The heart that you thought was forever damaged will be mended. What was shattered will be whole again. Know that only He can do this. Seek Him.

And when He saves you, beg forgiveness for the fall, feel remorse over it—but not despair.

As Ibn ul Qayyim (ra) has said: “Satan rejoiced when Adam (peace be upon him) came out of Paradise, but he did not know that when a diver sinks into the sea, he collects pearls and then rises again.”

There is a powerful and amazing thing about tawbah (repentance) and turning back to Allah (swt). We are told that it is a polish for the heart. What’s amazing about a polish is that it doesn’t just clean. It makes the object that is polished even shinier than it was before it got dirty. If you come back to God, seek His forgiveness, and refocus your life and heart on Him, you have the potential to be even richer than if you’d never fallen at all. Sometimes falling and coming back up gives you wisdom and humility that you may never otherwise have had. Ibn ul Qayyim (ra) writes:

“One of the Salaf (Pious Predecessors) said: “Indeed a servant commits a sin by which he enters Paradise; and another does a good deed by which he enters the Fire.” It was asked: How is that? So he replied: “The one who committed the sin, constantly thinks about it; which causes him to fear it, regret it, weep over it and feel ashamed in front of his Lord—the Most High—due to it. He stands before Allah, broken-hearted and with his head lowered in humility. So this sin is more beneficial to him than doing many acts of obedience, since it caused him to have humility and humbleness—which leads to the servant’s happiness and success—to the extent that this sin becomes the cause for him entering Paradise. As for the doer of good, then he does not consider this good a favor from his Lord upon him. Rather, he becomes arrogant and amazed with himself, saying: I have achieved such and such, and such and such. So this further increases him in self-adulation, pride and arrogance—such that this becomes the cause for his destruction.”

Allah (swt) reminds us in the Qur’an to never lose hope. He says:

“Say, ‘O My servants who have transgressed against their souls [by sinning], despair not of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful,’” (39:53).

And so, this is a call to all those who have become enslaved by the tyranny of the self, imprisoned in the dungeon of the nafs (self) and desires. It is a call to all those who have entered the ocean of dunya, who have sunk into its depths, and become trapped by its crushing waves. Rise up. Rise up to the air, to the Real world above the prison of the ocean. Rise up to your freedom. Rise up and come back to life. Leave the death of your soul behind you. Your heart can still live and be stronger and purer than it ever was. Does not the polish of tawbah remake the heart even more beautiful than it was? Remove the veil you have sewn with your sins. Remove the veil between you and Life, between you and Freedom, between you and Light—between you and God. Remove the veil and rise up. Come back to yourself. Come back to where you began. Come back Home. Know that when all the other doors have shut in your face, there is One that is always open. Always. Seek it. Seek Him and He will guide you through the waves of the cruel ocean, into the mercy of the sun.

This world cannot break you—unless you give it permission. And it cannot own you unless you hand it the keys – unless you give it your heart. And so, if you have handed those keys to dunya for a while—take them back. This isn’t the End. You don’t have to die here. Reclaim your heart and place it with its rightful owner: God.

Last Sunday was quite nerve-wrecking because it was my first time appearing on tv as a guest for Tvalhijrah's "Assalamualaikum" program together with Sue Anna Joe and Fira Hanis. The topic we discussed was 'Fesyen Blogger: Trend atau Gaya Sendiri' which literally translates into 'Fashion Blogger: Trend or Own Personal Style'. I loved that they prepared a little slideshow of some of our looks from our blogs before starting the discussion. So we talked and talked a little bit more and before I knew it, it was already over. So fast meh! Even the host Irma Hasmie thought it was too short. Oh well, atleast we got our voices heard and maybe, just MAYBE, all those critics might think twice before giving us negative comments. People will always judge, what's worst is they fail to see the good in people, and only see the bad.

My Chelsea Experience.

I can safely say that I've totally changed my mind about football. This was my first time ever going to a live football match and I have to admit I had such a great time thanks to Naza World for the free grandstand tickets!! Well part of it was also because we were escorted by the police from Naza World to the stadium. The roads were jammed during that peak hour but we made it to the stadium in a jiffy because cars had to make way for us. hehe. oh yeah.

Upon arriving we took some photos with Dato' SM Faisal of Naza World, together with his wife and son. They were so nice and down to earth I almost instantly felt awkward and amazed at the same time. I have a great deal of respect for him and his family. God bless them.

As soon as we got to our seats, I could feel the excitement building up in the stadium. Everytime the crowd cheered I would shout along waving my chelsea flag(but I was cheering for Malaysia!!) LOL.

Even though Malaysia lost to Chelsea by 1-0, I'd say it was a good match and our young tigers did really well especially on defense. GO TIGERS!! wohoo! plus Chelsea's goal was on the line. pfft.

So today was the day of the "So You Think You Can Style" challenge, and let me tell you it wasn't easy!! We were competing against 14 other teams for RM6,000 worth of prizes and the competition was fierce! LOL. Anyhow we were quite surprised that we were chosen as the top 5 best groups of the day(chosen by professional judges) Unfortunately we didn't make it to top 3(top 3 were chosen by the audience based on the most cheers) But all in all it was a great experience and I was very proud of what my team came up with;) Love you Ami and Diana!!<3

Into The Blue.

OK so all the men in my family are football fans, but the girls? Not so much. So when my brother came back from the Arsenal game a few days ago all excited i was like, "What is it with guys and balls?" Then just right after that I found out that I'll be getting two FREE Grandstand passes to both Chelsea FC training session and match, starting Tuesday courtesy of Naza World as the official car of the Chelsea Asia Tour 2011 - Malaysia!

At first I didn't really feel like going since I ain't that much of a football fan anyway, but when I told my brother about it he was over the moon and begged me to bring him along. lol. Rolling Out For Tansformers 3 in Style.

Hello readers!:) As you might have read about this in my previous post, i was invited to the premiere screening of Transformers : Dark of the Moon last Tuesday along with two other lovely ladies who I'm pretty sure you all know, Aimie and Ami. It was definitely a pleasant experience thanks to Chevrolet and Leonard's awesome team for giving us quite the VIP treatment!:) I would describe it as a night full of excitement and fun especially getting to meet new people which included awesome people like Rina Omar, Henry Golding and the smokin hot Halenness:)

And here's a video of what went on that day!

So now about the movie! I've watched both previous Transformers movies and I have to say my fave was the second one! This third installment of Transformers was not at all bad either, filled with plenty of action but somehow I think there was something missing. Perhaps it's the fact that I prefer Megan Fox as Shia's love interest over Rosie Hunington. Don't get me wrong, Rosie Hunington is THE absolute bombshell but I guess she's a bit too...what's the word?..girly..? I don't even like Megan Fox all that much but I do agree that the character suits Megan better. But anyhow, I had a fun time watching Tranformers 3 in 3D and really think you guys should go check it out too and tell me WHAT YOU THINK!:)

Last saturday we had a photoshoot for Jelita at Shea's sister's house in Bandar Sri Putra. The photoshoot
was for the Raya edition, hence we were all dressed in our baju raya. The photoshoot started of with a short briefing, make-up session(my fave bit), and there were 4 make-up artists present including the talented Anna Cherie who did my make-up for the day;)(wohoo!) Anyways, at the beginning the shots were taken in pairs and I was photographed with Shea and Yana. Afterwards we had to change into our second outfit for the spread shot of all 12 of us together. I'm pretty sure the photos will turn out great and hope everyone will get a copy of this issue when it comes out! Big thanks to Jelita for including me in this shoot.

Ever since I started working, I rarely got the chance to meet up with my uni friends a.k.a my former studiomates. So just the other day we finally managed to meet up at the curve for some major catching up!! It was so much fun getting to talk to them again and catching up with what was currently going on in their lives..so much has changed since the last time we met..these are friends who I grew very close to during my final years of studio and friends who will always have a huge place in my heart..

I'm not very good with words and even though i don't say much when i'm around them, I really want them to know, no matter what direction you choose in your life and what struggles you may face in the future, always know that Allah is the best listener you can turn to..don’t waste a minute not being happy. If one window closes, run to the next window, or break down a door..Wether your happy or sad, either way you still have to go on and live your life, so you might as well choose to be happy..I wish you girls the best and hope that you take good care of yourself..love you all from the bottom of my heart.

Before I start, this entry is dedicated to Mr.Shafiq a.k.a my soulmate of almost 5years. I haven't seen him for a couple of months now. Even though were quite far apart, somehow it feels as though we've grown closer to each other more than we had ever been before(he's back in Ipoh now where he's living) I guess what I really want to say is I miss him and I'm thankful that I've truly found the most amazing guy to fall in love with everyday:)... I've never been good with words myself and sometimes it's hard to put in words how you feel so I think we have a really good way of saying things through actions, gifts or anything in a physical form.

So anyways, back to our topic, romantik ni sebenarnye subjektif..some people are able to communicate effectively through verbal communication. Some people find it easier to say things through actions..so have you ever felt out of words or tongue-tied when it comes to expressing your feelings or trying to win the heart of someone you really like?? here's a crash-course on how you can let out your feelings without having to worry about the words coming out wrong...

Lesson #1: Make her a card. Be it a simple plain card or even a more elaborate one, girls love it when they get hand-made cards from guys.

If you've already given her one of those, maybe you could try this idea, a POP-UP card! This would surely leave her breathless.

Lesson #2: Write her a poem. Try out your writing skills and put together a special poem just for her, if you're not that into creating your own, find poetry that she loves or that she would probably enjoy reading.

Lesson #3: Buy her flowers! Surprise her with a bouquet of flowers when she's having a bad day. That would definitely put a smile on her face:)

Lesson #4: Make her a name tag with pictures of you and her in it! Remember that every little thing you do can make so much difference. Even if it's as small as this one. Because it's the thought that counts!!

Lesson #5: Make her a 'love certificate'. As cheesy as it may sound, you'd be surprised what wonders it can do:P This one is THE deal breaker. lol

Lesson #6: Make her a bookmark. It's a simple gift, but each time she flips the page of a book, she'll be thinking of you!

Lesson #7: If you have zero talent in making all the above, perhaps buy her one of these winning gifts:

1. A Teddy Bear


2. A cute ring

3. A handbag

Lesson # 8: Draw her a portrait. Even if you don't have all the drawing talent in the world, it wouldn't hurt to try something like this and show her your effort:)

Lesson #9: Write her love letters and fold them into different shapes. Remind her of how you both met or memories you had together.

Last but not least, if you want to go all out in giving her the ultimate-DIY-romantic-experience, sew her something made out from your old jeans! This would definitely make her jaw drop!

Jakarta-Bandung Escape.

mIt's been quite a while since we had our last family vacation, and this one wasn't actually planned. It was kind of an impromptu trip because my brother's semester break was finally over and my mom felt bad that we didn't really go anywhere while he was at home so that's when she decided to take us to Jakarta+Bandung. And it was actually a nice getaway for me since lately I've been quite busy with work:p.

So we departed from klia on thursday morning via Garuda Airlines. Arrived in Jakarta at about 9am local time. On the first day we went to one of the many Mangga Dua Malls in the city of Jakarta. Then we went to a local store famous for it's leather products called Grutty. I didnt get anything in leather,but I did get myself a pair of really nice black pumps! so yay for me! :D and after dinner we went to Toko Tiga, a place that sells really cheap branded(and original) jeans!

Then afterwards our very funny driver/tour guide drove us straight to Bandung. By the time we reached our hotel room we were all exhausted and went to bed. During the night we couldn't realy capture the ambience of bandung because it was quite dark and there wasn't much lighting along the roads. Only the next morning I discovered how intriguing and delightful bandung was. I simply enjoyed it's breezy weather and warm atmosphere:) Bandung has a bit of that Cameron Highland feel to it but slightly better. The second day was my personal favorite because we went to Tangkuban Perahu. It's actually a Volcano site. When you get to the top its quite chilly but the view is to die for..

Subhanallah..nothing compares to the beauty of Allah's creation..

Just before going to the next destination, I went on a horse ride..it was hilarious since i completely made a fool out of myself when i was getting on the horse. Luckily I mustered every bit of confidence i had and rocked it LIKE A BOSS! hehe

For lunch we went to this very nice restaurant and had a taste of Sunda cuisine. Comparing Padang food and Sunda food, i think i enjoyed Sunda food a little bit more:)

On the third day, it was pretty much a whole day of shopping!! hhhuuuhhh..just thinking of it makes me exhausted already. lol there were so many factory outlets and shopping places that were just too much to handle in a day! By the end of the day we were already heading back to Jakarta..

On the last day we went to Monas and Tanah Abang, had lunch and back to the airport. It was such a pleasant experience and I would definitely love to come again! :)

On Teaching..

It's almost the end of the semester and I have to say it's definitely been a good one. I think that teaching has taught me so much about myself since I'm quite new to it. I've always thought of lecturers as naturally gifted people who have always been good at what they do. But now I know from my own experience that teaching itself is in fact a learning process and people don't just happen to be good at what they do. They work hard and learn from their mistakes. Well atleast that's how I learned and I believe that I still have a long way to go.

When I was younger I've always wanted to be an architect, that's why I took up architecture in the first place. I loved the idea of creating spaces and integrating design with culture, art, science and technology. Unless you're an architecture student, you probably wouldn't know how much fun studio life is. Our studios are like our home. We slept, ate, laughed, cried and pretty much spent most of our time executing drawings in the studio. When I started teaching, being back in the studio brought back so many memories and I guess Im happy with where I'm at now because I still get to be a part of the 'studio life' culture.

It feels surreal to think that just a year ago I was the one preparing presentation drawings, not sleeping for days thinking about the horror of presentation day and how harsh all the assessors and outside panels would be on us . Now I'm the one who's actually assessing students work and giving them a hard time! lol.

Regardless, I feel that my students have been very open and mature when it comes to accepting criticism. It's all just part of the learning process.

During these first 6 months of teaching, I believe that I've grown and come to love teaching very much, and couldn't imagine doing anything else(well except maybe a fashion designer/stylist)lol. The most rewarding part of teaching is when you see improvement in your students which show that they actually learn something. I mean, what could be better than that? For me it's the most satisfying thing I could ever ask for.

HFW Day #7 : Party Hostess

It's already the last day of HFW and it's been 7 inspiring days I must say! Phew! Today's theme is party hostess and by far my most favorite! For Party Hostess I wanted to try my hands on colour blocking because as you know I'm a huge fan of colour and this would be a totally fun look to wear to a party! I love the combination of tangerine, teal and purple:) I would imagine wearing this if I were to host a tea party like the one Hana Tajima had hosted for us a while ago. Or perhaps hosting a little get together with my close friends:) Regardless, I think a party hostess should look fresh and electric and this would defintely be the perfect outfit!!

I've been having so much fun with HFW that I can't believe it's day 6 already. I even mistakenly wrote Day 5 as the title today:p But anyways, today's theme is Travel/Vacation. This would be an outfit that I'd wear when I'm on the go, travelling from one place to the other, for instance long flights and such. I love to travel in jeans or anything thats just loose and baggy. Jeans are my choice for comfort when it comes to travelling. Plus the blazer I bought is super breezy and casual but still kinda stylish:p. Woo Friday~ Our favorite day of the week! Last HFW they included Eid, but this HFW we're covering Jummah (Friday Prayer). I'm a big fan of abaya's, even since my study years in UIA, I would always wear it because it's so easy to wear, not to mention comfy! So for today's theme which is Jummah, I think this would be the perfect outfit because it's really just simple but still keeping it stylish with a touch of colour. For Date night I would opt for something more unique that I probably wouldn’t wear any other time except when going out with my future husband or something new that he's never seen me wear before. I’ve never actually tried the turban style before so this was my first time and (I think) I managed to pull off the look! My husband-to-be is a landscape architect, and we both share a great deal of passion towards the arts so I would imagine wearing this to an art gallery or to the theatre and we’d compliment the night with fine dining at some fancy restaurant and maybe afterwards watch a movie at home:p

I would describe wearing something like this to a formal fashion/dinner party. I wanted to still capture a sense of sweetness and elegance but at the same time give it a little more edge and modern touch instead of opting for a normal evening gown. I also wanted to keep it subtle and simple thats why I used quite soft and earthy tones for the whole outfit including the ballerina wedges!:) I love statement jewelry and I think the necklace adds a little something special to it!

HFW Day #1 : Workwear

Out of all my HFW outfits, this outfit was the easiest to put together because it’s one of the many looks I’ve actually worn to work before! I’m working as an architecture lecturer, so for work wear I opted for something really comfy like this black skirt(skirts are always comfy!) and a chiffon leopard printed top.

Being in the field of architecture, I’ve always considered fashion to be quite the same as architecture. It’s about presenting new ideas, being creative, creating the right proportion, knowing yourself and what you want to convey, making it inspirational, just like producing a work of art.

I happen to love bright and bold colours, that’s why I added a touch of turquoise to the look with my headscarf. The tucked in leopard print top with the black skirt and belt shows a more serious, fierce side of me. It shows that I want my students to take me seriously but at the same time, the pop of colour says that I can still be fun and hip at the same time(hahaha, can stop laughing at myself!!).

Usually when I give lectures, I will be standing most of the time, so it is very essential that I always have the most comfy heels on! And these pair of black pumps always does the job, plus because their black, it’s easy for me to match them with any of my other outfits:)

Girls Just Wanna Have Fu-un.

Today me and my sisters had a small photoshoot for timah's new project(I will post the photos later!) and afterwards we went to this place called The Little White Cafe in Bangi. The place has a great cozy interior that would make you feel like you're actually in a different country! It kind of reminds me of this place we went to in Switzerland a few years back So anyways, after all the exhaustion of the photoshoot, it was definitely a nice treat, plus the waiters were friendly and kind! And the food wasn't at all bad. Overall I think it's a super fun and exquisite place to dine=). You can check this place out on their FB page here

The Tale of 4 Sisters.

I can barely remember the last time I had the chance to hangout with my sisters all at once. Since my eldest sister is married, and my other two sisters are both still studying, it's hard to find time for all 4 of us to be free at the same time. So anyways, I managed to escape from work a little early yesterday and we finally had our 'girls day out' that we've been longing to have for a while now. My eldest sister drove us to klcc, and we were supposed to help her out with some shopping, but being true girls that we are, we ended up doing more of our own shopping instead! lol.

Upon arriving, the first thing we did was drop by Harrods because my sister wanted to get some macarons(which I never really fancy because I'm not much of a sweet tooth person).

Afterwards, we went to grab a bite at Kyros Kebab and as always we just talked,laughed, and had so much fun enjoying each others' company. While we're at it, I might as well introduce you all to my sisters:P hehe

This is my eldest sister, Maryam a.k.a Maya. She's turning 26 this year, already married and currently working as a TESL lecturer in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Bangi.

Just incase you don't know. This is me .haha. Im turning 23 this coming June(yikes! I feel so old) I'm currently working as an architecture lecturer at Linton University College, Mantin.

This is my other sister Fatimah a.k.a timah. She's turning 21 this year and currently doing her B.Sc Mechanical Engineering in UITM, Shah Alam.

And last but not least is my youngest sister, Khodijah a.k.a kayah. She's 17 and will be taking her SPM this year! btw, she's the only single lady here!:P haha

I feel so lucky to have my sisters. We share pretty much everything, especially clothes! We get to ask second opinions when we go shopping and the best part is that we can always talk to each other and share our problems. I always have so much fun when I'm around them. And yesterday was no exception! :)

Just the other day I went to visit my aunt who also lives in Bangi. She is a retired school principle, now in her sixties. What started off as just catching up turned into quite an inspirational conversation. It triggered me to write this post thanks to that little conversation we had.

Since the very first time I laid my hands on crayons and started drawing, art(especially fine arts) has always been a passion of mine. I have always looked up to artists, poets and people involved in the world of arts as very exciting and gifted people. Same goes to people working in other fields like doctors, engineers, architects, you name it. My perception of the two professions has always been the same. I think that all professions require a certain amount of knowledge, intelligence, talent and skill.

That’s why I find it to be weird when some people show a great deal of respect only for professions like doctors, engineers, architects, accountants, lecturers, lawyers(to name a few). But when someone is told that a particular person is an artist, photographer, dancer, graphic designer, stylist, poet or such, they don’t really show the same amount of admiration or respect as they do for the first group of professions mentioned.

Why do they think that way you might ask? The basis could possibly be the fact that in our earlier education we were never taught about the understanding and appreciation towards the arts. The simplest example you can see is that Pendidikan Seni Visual (Visual Arts) is only offered to form 4 students who are in the arts stream. And some people perceive most of the students taking this subject to be students with a low level of intelligence, when the fact is, art requires a high level of intelligence and creativity. Even within the timeframe of form 1-form 3 arts class, which was compulsory for all students, the teachers only taught us the very basics in drawing and theory. We were only taught what was already in the text books. We were never exposed to the importance of art and how we can learn to appreciate it. We were never exposed to the possible art professions that could be ventured into. In other words, art was treated as just an additional subject that you had to take in middle school, without even knowing it’s relevance and what values come with it.

Even when I wanted to take up Visual Arts as an additional subject for my SPM, my school principle was very reluctant of approving it, which to me was completely ridiculous. We should be encouraged to explore. Feel the freedom to embrace art.

You don’t need to be gifted to understand and appreciate art. Appreciating art doesn’t mean you have to make paintings, write poems and go to art exhibitions. It means giving art at least some space in your heart and mind to be thought about or questioned. It means giving yourself some space to think about the ideas and the messages it convey. That way, people won’t be discouraged when it comes to choosing the arts as a profession, thinking that it’s less ‘glamorous’ or less ‘intelligent’. The problem is a lot of Malaysians DO think that way. That is why the arts scene in Malaysia is not as active and ‘big’ as it is in other countries like France, Italy, Japan, and so on. Overseas, people can make a lot of money from arts itself because more people do in fact appreciate art and are willing to pay top dollar to own a piece of artwork, regardless if it’s a painting, photo, designer dress and also to experience various art performances.

Art should be celebrated as much as any other profession. So open your mind and senses. Start giving art a chance for once in your life and you might just see the world in a different tune.

Making The Best Out Of Life.

Syukur Alhamdulillah. For all that I have been blessed with and all that I have achieved so far in my life. I believe that I still have a long way to go. If there's one thing we should all remember is to always be contented and thankful for what we have and make the best out of it.

Which brings me to today's exciting news:) Just this morning around 10-ish I escaped from work(thank God I didn't have any classes today)and drove back to Bangi to finally get my new car! I was so excited since obviously it's my first time buying a car. As soon as I saw my car from far, I wanted to just scream(the type of scream that we girls do when we get super excited about something, ie.outfit/shoes) lol. But thankfully I gathered myself and got through it:p

Before buying this car I wasn't actually so sure about the whole thing. I thought about waiting a little longer to save up my money first. But since my other siblings need to use the family car, it was no longer an option. I HAD to buy a car. Turns out, it's one of the best experiences of my life so far! It feels good to actually own something that you've worked very hard for and that you've earned with your own money. It really is the best feeling. Alhamdulillah for the rezeki that Allah has blessed me with. I couldn't have asked for more:)

So here's the car that I bought, the new proton SAGA FL(face lift) in white. It's an automatic car with full specification. For it's very cheap price of 43k, you can't really expect much. But for the very least, I think it is really worth the price. Before this I used to drive perodua VIVA elite and my mom's GEN2 for quite some time. VIVA elite is about the same price as SAGA FL. Comparing the two, SAGA FL is definitely much better. If you're thinking of buying a car that won't really affect your salary, this is definitely the car for you.

Hunnymadu's Private Listening Party.

Last weekend the multi-talented Hunnymadu hosted a small listening party for a group of poeple including myself and a number of bloggers, since she will be releasing her very first solo album very soon. I was happy to have had the chance to hear and and give some input on what I thought about all the tracks in her album. I have to admit she is her own artist and has a distinctive sound and I disagree that some people say she sounds like Najwa. Her album is a mixture of jazz, funk, soul, hip hop and everything in between. Overall I think it's definitely an album that's worth your money! I mostly enjoyed tracks like 'Ting Ting' and also a song which featured a duet with Anuar Zain! How can you go wrong from there right? lol. So watch out everyone, she's coming out with a bang!

It's Not The End Of The World.

I know this is completely out of the blue, but I feel the need to let it out anyways. This entry goes out to all the ladies who have ever been heart-broken by a guy or currently dealing with a harsh break-up. I've gone through it before when I was in my first relationship so I think it's something that a lot of people can relate to. It's not easy going through a break up. It hurts I'm not gonna lie. But guess what? Everything happens for a reason. And usually it happens for the best. As some people might put it, 'After a hurricane comes a rainbow'. And thats exactly what happened to me:) Allah always knows what is best for us. I found someone who I can truly call my soulmate and that I believe has made me a better person. At one point in my life, I realized what an idiot I was thinking that I'll never find the 'right guy' again when I was with the wrong guy to begin with! So mark my words ladies, one day you will come to your senses and actually be thankful to the guy who broke your heart! Because if it wasn't for him, you would have never met 'THE ONE'!

So if he/she dumps you saying 'let's just be friends' or 'i'm not ready for a commitment yet', don't go crying your eyeballs out thinking that it's the end of the world or questioning was it something you did wrong and start blaming yourself or all that nonsense. There are tons of guys out there that might just be THE ONE for you! Trust me. Regardless of whatever reason that person left you, in the end it's actually his/her loss, not yours. Break-ups are supposed to make you more mature. Not the other way around. If there's one(or more) things I've learned from my own past experience is :

1. Don't get involved in a relationship when you're in school(especially during important years like SPM year!) because puppy love never lasts(well some do, but very unlikely).
2. Don't get into a relationship that your family(your mom especially!) does not approve of.
3. Don't be in a relationship where you don't feel the freedom to be yourself, ie. making ugly faces or being silly around him.

and most importantly,

4. Love Allah, your family, and yourself first before anything else.

A Family Affair.

It was a lovely weekend with my family since we were celebrating two birthdays, my mom's and my eldest brother Baem. So we went for some scrumptious Arab food at the Sahara Tent in Alamanda. It was my first time dining there and I have to say that I loved the food especially the 'Sahara Chicken' and 'Chicken Mandy'. It was a very special celebration this year since I'm working now and I finally got to buy my mom something a little more fancy than I used to as her birthday present:) So I bought her a little something from Habib Jewels. You know what they say, diamonds are a girls best friend! Anyways, I hope she liked the present as much as I enjoyed picking it out for her:)

I feel like I'm entering a new phase in my life, which is a good thing. I'm working, no longer staying with my parents, I just bought my very first car. Somehow I feel a sense of achievement and I'm a lot more mature+independant than I used to be. I've had certain goals in my life that I've wanted to achieve at certain ages and Alhamdulillah I feel that I'm really getting there. I'm praying that this will be the start of something great for my future, insyaAllah:) woh0o i feel empowered!

What makes people who they are is mostly what they are inspired by. And that's no exception for me either. Born in Parit Buntar, Perak and raised in a small town in Leeds, England, I was pretty much a girlie girl since my toddler years. If you ask my mom, she would probably tell you that I'm the type of girl who changes my outfit every ten minutes just to see what looks good on myself. When we had guests visiting, I would be the one to go and shamelessly sit on someone's lap(even if it was someone I barely knew) and smiled a lot for attention. If my mom bought us sisters the same outfits but in different colours, I would always opt for that red dress or pick something that stud out the most. All I knew was that it felt good to be different in that way. And so as years past by, I realized every time I saw someone on the streets or on TV looking really good, there was just that feeling of awe and excitement that I knew I wanted to feel and experience for myself. So sometimes I would spend hours in my room trying to mix and match every single piece of clothing in my wardrobe(not to mention making a huge mess out of it!) until i found the perfect match for a complete outfit. I knew from that moment I was in love with fashion. And the rest is history.
